Hello , I ’ m Maryann , and I am excited to take on the role as the new group editor of the Independent Magazines this month .
I have come across from our sister publication , the Blacktown City Independent , which is the third , and newest , magazine in our growing publishing house .
I have been working in the media , communications and community engagement fields for almost 30 years . I love reading and reporting news and events , but my passion is interviewing real people in real life situations and telling their story .
Celebrating community is what we ’ re about – through interesting personal stories , supporting business , organisations and the locality - giving you a platform to be part of the news , chronical history , share a ‘ good tale ’ and local business networking .
The Independent Magazine Group now comprises the Hawkesbury District , Hills District and Blacktown City editions . All designed , written and produced by locals for locals , under the masthead created over 11 years ago by publisher / owner Julie Ryan . We are a professional team of journalists , photographers , sales and production staff .
You have welcomed The Hills District edition as a friend and voice in this community since 2015 . I ’ m thrilled to be the third editor for this publication , continuing the tradition of bringing you positive stories relating to your home , family and the Garden Shire .
