Arena set for major transformation
while enhancing the facilities for broad community benefit.
“ With the population of The Hills Shire forecast to increase by more than 71 per cent in the next 15 years, it is vital our infrastructure is upgraded. This project will help meet the needs of existing users and our growing community.”
The redevelopment will deliver a range of improvements designed to make the arena more versatile, accessible and enjoyable for visitors.
At the heart of the project will be a renovated arena field, designed as a flexible grassed space capable of hosting a wide variety of activities, events and community celebrations. New shade structures and spectator seating will provide greater comfort for visitors, while a landscaped viewing mound complete with bleachers will offer enhanced viewing opportunities.
The plans also include welcoming public plazas where people can sit, gather and socialise, creating new opportunities for community interaction and connection.
Accessibility and functionality have also been key considerations in the design. A reconfigured internal road network and formalised parking areas will improve traffic flow, increase parking capacity and enhance safety throughout the precinct. Improved pedestrian pathways and accessibility features will make it easier for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the space.
To ensure the arena remains in excellent condition for years to come, new drainage and irrigation systems will also be installed to support the longterm performance of the field.
Mayor Byrne said the arena’ s location next to the Hills Showground Metro Station makes it ideally positioned to become an even more vibrant community destination.
“ Located right next door to Hills Showground Metro Station, the arena is in a prime location for Hills residents to access the reimagined space,” she said.
“ I’ m particularly excited that the revamp will provide a contemporary new space where community groups, families, friends and young people can gather for meaningful connections.”
The project is being jointly funded through the NSW Government’ s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program and The Hills Shire Council. The program is delivering $ 2 billion worth of

transformational infrastructure projects across Western Sydney, with $ 11.475 million allocated specifically to the Castle Hill Showground Arena Upgrade.
Future stages of the project may include additional facilities, subject to further funding. These plans feature new pavilions with modern amenities including function rooms, updated bathrooms, change rooms, a kitchen, kiosk and other
community facilities. Residents are encouraged to review the plans and provide feedback as Council works towards delivering the next chapter in the long and proud history of Castle Hill Showground.
