Levande has officially marked the start of construction at Levande Hills Showground, its newest retirement living community in Sydney’ s northwest, with a symbolic sod-turning ceremony held on-site in Castle Hill.
Located within the revitalised Hills Showground precinct, the development will deliver a contemporary retirement community designed around wellbeing, connection and convenience— just moments from public transport and local amenities.
The ceremony brought together Levande’ s development, marketing and operations teams, along with project partners and invited civic representatives, to celebrate this significant milestone. Proceedings included a Welcome to Country, a traditional sod turning and a

Once complete, Levande Hills Showground will comprise 217 independent living apartments across five buildings. The community will also feature a clubhouse, wellbeing centre, social and communal spaces, and a neighbourhood retail outlet, giving residents easy access to everyday essentials within their own village.
Stage One of the development is scheduled to open in 2027, offering low-maintenance homes in a secure, purpose-designed environment that supports physical, social and emotional wellbeing.
Levande CEO Kevin McCoy said the project represents a major reinvestment in the Hills district.
“ To make way for Levande Hills Showground, more than a dozen existing houses were acquired and removed, transforming the site into a purpose-designed retirement community that will ultimately be home to more than 300 people,” he said.
“ It’ s a powerful example of how underutilised land can be thoughtfully redeveloped to

meet the changing needs of the community.”
Drawing on Levande’ s experience operating retirement villages across Australia, the design reflects a strong focus on creating places where older Australians can live well and stay connected. Planned amenities will support both active and relaxed lifestyles, with opportunities for exercise, socialising and quiet enjoyment throughout the village.
The broader Hills Showground precinct is also undergoing significant transformation, with new green spaces, retail outlets, cafés and public facilities contributing to a more walkable and vibrant neighbourhood for both residents and the wider community.
The commencement of construction marks an important new chapter for the site, delivering much-needed retirement living options in one of Sydney’ s fastestgrowing regions.

Mr McCoy said Levande is committed to meeting the needs of the area’ s ageing population.
“ The north-west of Sydney has experienced rapid growth, but retirement living options have not always kept pace,” he said.
“ With Levande communities now operating or under construction in Castle Hill, Oatlands, Epping and now Hills Showground, we are making a longterm commitment to ensuring retirees in this region have access to contemporary, well-located homes that support connection, wellbeing and choice.”
