HLOCAL TENNIS COACH WINS $ 1 MILLION
Congratulations to tennis coach Jordan Smith of the Castle Hill Tennis Academy who lived out a real-life Davidversus-Goliath dream to win the $ 1 million at the Australian Open by beating two-time Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner in the‘ One Point Slam’ novelty tournament. In addition to his life-changing prize money, Smith also earned $ 50,000 for the tennis club, a club which recently received funding from both me and the Member for Castle Hill through the NSW Community Building Partnerships grant program for much needed upgrades to their facilities. Well
done, Jordan! GUN LAWS MISS THE MARK In the wake of the Bondi terrorist attack, the Liberal and National parties were ready to work constructively with the Government to strengthen counterterrorism and firearms laws. Instead, the Minns Government rushed flawed legislation through Parliament, combining three Bills and allowing no proper scrutiny. The laws failed to address antisemitism or the radical Islamic extremism behind the attack. Earlier this year, the Liberal – National Coalition introduced Bills to combat rising violence and hatred, including mandatory penalties for inciting violence against Jewish Australians, but every proposal was voted down. Most licensed firearm owners are law-abiding, but when hatred is ignored,
even strong laws are tested. I will continue to advocate for firm laws that fully prosecute anyone who uses a weapon to commit a crime, regardless of age, weapon or background. If you would like to listen to my speech regarding the bill, please visit my website: www. raywilliamsmp. com. au.
LACHLAN KIDD – CROSS COUNTRY SUPERSTAR
It was wonderful to meet Lachlan Kidd, a talented local 13-year-old Cross Country, Road Running and Track athlete from Kellyville, NSW; and to present to him a State Representative Award for Cross Country. Lachlan represented NSW at several national championships including the Australian Junior Athletics Championships, the Athletics Australia National Cross Country Championships,
and the Schools Australia National Cross Country Championships. Lachlan is a student at Kings School and has ambitions to win a national title and represent Australia on the international stage. Lachlan is an athlete to watch, and I will be cheering him on every step of the way.

Education shapes the future of our young people

with Julian Leeser MP Federal Member for Berowra
Education shapes not only what our young people know, but who they become. Across the Berowra community, our schools play a central role in forming character, building skills and helping students discover where they fit and how they can contribute to the wider community.
Whenever I visit local schools, I am reminded that education is not an abstract policy debate. It is lived every day by students striving to do their best, by teachers dedicated to their craft, and by parents making countless unseen sacrifices to support their children’ s learning. Families invest time, energy and hope in giving their children the best possible start in life.
One of my priorities is ensuring every family has access to a high-quality education, whether they choose a government, Catholic or independent school. Parents know their children best, and they deserve confidence that whichever pathway they choose will provide a strong foundation for their child’ s future. Strong communities depend on strong schools, and our education system works best when every student is supported to thrive, no matter the sector or setting.
Great teaching remains at the heart of educational success. Teachers do far more than deliver curriculum. They inspire curiosity, perseverance and the satisfaction that comes from mastering something challenging. They shape confidence, resilience and a love of learning that lasts long after students leave the classroom. Our teachers deserve policies that respect their professionalism and allow them to focus on what matters most: teaching students and supporting their development.
Education must also prepare young people for life beyond school. It should equip them to think critically, participate confidently in our democracy, and

Across Berowra, students, families and educators are doing this important work every day. They are building not just academic outcomes, but the foundations of a strong, confident and engaged next generation. I am committed to supporting them and strengthening the role education plays in shaping our shared future.
