Personalised Pathways for Senior Students

At Norwest Christian College, our Building Purposeful Lives( BPL) framework shapes everything we do. More than a learning model, BPL is designed to help students grow academically, spiritually and personally. We prepare senior students for life beyond school by supporting their studies, developing leadership skills and encouraging service to others. Believing that each person is uniquely created by God with a purpose, we offer flexible pathways tailored to individual talents and aspirations.
These pathways allow students to explore opportunities in:
• Distance Education Students can choose additional subjects through distance education, including languages, humanities and technology, when courses are not offered on campus.
• Vocational Education & Training( VET) Courses We provide students with handson experience in real workplace environments. The College offers a school-based VET course in Hospitality, as well as opportunities to join partnered institutions in construction, automotive, animal care, entertainment, electrotechnology, fitness and health services.
• School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships( SBAT) SBATs give students the chance to gain practical workplace experience while earning qualifications. This pathway is available in industries such as construction, retail, hospitality, early childhood care and aged care. Students
work part-time with an employer while continuing their studies, with options that may lead to an ATAR pathway and matriculation.
• Direct Early Entry University Schemes Many tertiary institutions offer early entry opportunities for Year 12 students. These schemes assess students using criteria other than, or in addition to, their ATAR. This pathway rewards academic excellence in Year 11, as well as commitment to community and leadership, and includes support with direct university applications.
• School Recommendation Scheme( SRS) SRS provides an alternative pathway through the Universities Admissions Centre( UAC) for students who may not meet the ATAR threshold but demonstrate strong academic potential. Under this scheme, some universities offer early entry based on school performance, with the endorsement of the College Executive. This pathway enables a smoother transition into higher education for capable students who may not reach the traditional ATAR cut-off.
• Apprenticeships and Traineeships Students who pursue apprenticeships or traineeships are supported through the application process and connected with appropriate training institutes, industry specialists and employers. At Norwest Christian College, we are committed to developing the whole person, nurturing each student’ s Godgiven purpose and empowering them for a successful future. As teachers partner with students to plan their individual pathways, our shared focus remains clear: to be a Christ-centred learning community that cultivates excellence and inspires and equips students towards a holistic, authentic and purposeful life.
