2025 marks the 10th Go4Broke cycling event. What began in 2016 as a small 183-kilometer ride from Berowra to Broke with just 100 riders was founded by Ed Kirk after his own battle with depression 15 years ago. Ed was fortunate to be supported by family and friends- his mother a Lifeline volunteer counsellor- and crucial to his recovery was cycling and cycling with mates.
That experience left a lasting mark and Go4Broke was born to show how exercise, community and shared challenges can make a difference. Though modest in scale the event has punched well above its weight raising more than $ 500,000 for Lifeline. Entirely run by volunteers its success and the drive to raise more funds has inspired a new chapter: VIC100.
On Sunday 16th November 2025 the inaugural VIC100 will take place after three years of planning and consultation with local councils, NSW Police, Transport for NSW and community groups. For one

morning only Bells Line of Road will be closed to traffic giving up to 800 cyclists the rare opportunity to ride 100 kilometres from Penrith to Mount Victoria.
The purpose remains the same: to raise vital funds for Lifeline. This time proceeds will support three local services- Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney, Lifeline Macarthur and Western Sydney, and Lifeline Central West. Each centre plays a critical role in its community – from the Hawkesbury through Bilpin and Kurrajong Heights across the Blue Mountains and into the Central West. Funds raised will go directly to frontline services ensuring more services and more calls for help are answered.
While the temporary closure of Bells Line of Road may cause some disruption organisers are working closely with residents and businesses to minimise impacts. Local businesses are also set to benefit from the influx of rider’ s families and supporters at the finish-line festival in Mount Victoria.
