OUT & ABOUT

Love Holden? NSW All Holden Day is coming! SUNDAY 3 AUGUST | HAWKESBURY SHOWGROUND

Looking for a fantastic family day out? Look no further than the 37th annual NSW All Holden Day, set to roar into the Hawkesbury Showground on Sunday, 3 August. This event has the largest collection of Holdens on display anywhere in the world.
The iconic motoring event is a celebration of Australia’ s beloved Holden brand, with more than 850 original and customised vehicles on display – from classic sedans and utes to wagons, vans and 1-tonners – valued collectively at over $ 30 million.
The event kicks off with a swap meet on Saturday, 2 August, featuring a huge variety of automotive wares and collectibles. The main show day on Sunday will see car enthusiasts from across Australia – and even a few from overseas – showcasing their pride and joy in what is widely considered the largest display of Holdens in the world.
It’ s not just about the cars – there’ s something for the whole family to enjoy. Children’ s entertainment includes free rock climbing, a jumping castle, and face painting. You’ ll also find trade stalls, delicious food and drinks, and plenty of ice creams to cool off with.
The NSW All Holden Day Committee, made up entirely of volunteers, work tirelessly each year to deliver this highly anticipated event. Attracting over 20,000 visitors annually, the event also shines a spotlight on the Hawkesbury region, encouraging tourism and supporting local businesses.
Importantly, proceeds from the weekend are donated to a wide range of local organisations, including the Rural Fire Service, SES, Scouts, Wisemans Ferry Men’ s Shed, St John Ambulance, Ronald McDonald House, and other deserving charities. Over the past 36 years, the event has contributed more than $ 1 million back to community and charity groups – an outstanding achievement.
Spectator entry is just $ 10 per adult, and children under 15 enter free with a paying adult. Free parking is available

The Galston Club- a taste of excellence

at ClubsNSW Perfect Plate 2025

The Galston Club has long been a beloved destination where great food and warm hospitality come together— and on 5 June, that tradition was proudly on display as we took part in the highly anticipated ClubsNSW Perfect Plate 2025 competition. We’ re absolutely thrilled to have entered and want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has voted for us. Your support means the world!
This year, our entry was a true culinary showstopper: Crispy Skin Aussie Barramundi— a dish that captures the essence of Australian flavours in every
bite. Meticulously crafted by our talented
Head Chef Kei Lai in collaboration with club owner Mark Compatangelo, this dish is a harmonious blend of innovation, passion, and premium-quality ingredients.
Since taking over the kitchen in early 2023, Mark has played a vital role in shaping the club’ s evolving menu, bringing his culinary vision to life and transforming every plate into a memorable experience.
We were especially excited to welcome a special guest on the day— none other than former Parramatta Eels legend
and Perfect Plate ambassador, Nathan Hindmarsh( pictured). Nathan visited to sample our signature dish, and we were thrilled by his glowing feedback.
He dove straight in, savouring each bite, and was quick to praise the perfectly crispy skin and the rich, flavourful sauce. In fact, he polished off the entire plate in under 10 minutes— undeniable proof of just how delicious it was!
While Nathan’ s appreciation gave us a wonderful boost of pride, it’ s the support from our members, guests, and the wider community that truly inspires us to keep striving for excellence. With Perfect Plate 2025 in full swing, we’ re eagerly watching the competition unfold and feeling incredibly optimistic about the future of our kitchen team here at The Galston Club. Thank you once again to everyone
who has taken the time to vote— we couldn’ t have done it without you!
The 2025 Your Local Club Perfect Plate Awards is an annual dining competition across NSW, where club eateries showcase their standout dishes for diners to vote on. The competition features three categories: Main Dish, Dessert, and a new addition for 2025— Pizza. To cast a vote, diners simply enjoy a Perfect Plate dish at a participating club, scan a QR code, and submit their rating.
This year, over 200 club eateries across NSW are participating, with a total of 282 competition dishes entered— including 51 desserts and 44 pizzas.
