Carol Baker-Dersch recognised as
Castle Hill Local Woman of the Year 2025
Carol Baker-Dersch has been named Castle Hill’ s Local Woman of the Year for 2025 in recognition of her outstanding contributions, leadership, and lifelong commitment to the Hills community.
With over 30 years of dedicated volunteer service, Carol’ s impact is evident across numerous organisations, enhancing lives and strengthening community ties.
For more than three decades, Carol has been a prominent member of Soroptimist International of The Hills District, a global network focused on empowering women and girls through education, advocacy, and social initiatives.
Her leadership within the organisation includes serving as Regional President, Club President, and Regional Representative. Under her guidance, Soroptimist International has undertaken projects aimed at fostering gender equality, supporting vulnerable women, and driving meaningful change within the local community.
Since 2006, Carol has been an active member of the Friends of Bella Vista Farm, a historic landmark in the Hills District. She has played a pivotal role in organising educational historical tours to share the farm’ s rich heritage, coordinating fundraising events, including the popular Devonshire teas on Open Days, and hosting community gatherings to encourage public engagement with local history. Her dedication has helped preserve this significant site and ensure that its history remains accessible to future generations.
Carol also extends her compassion to the caring community as a Yellow Lady volunteer at Sydney Adventist Hospital. In this role, she provides emotional support, companionship, and assistance to patients and their families during difficult times. Her kindness and commitment bring comfort to many, embodying the true spirit of selfless service.
As Secretary of the Castle Hill Agricultural Society, Carol plays a key role in promoting local farming and agricultural education. She is a driving force behind the Youth Agricultural Expo, an initiative designed to inspire young people to engage in farming and appreciate its significance in Australian heritage. Her efforts help ensure the success of local agricultural events and foster an enduring appreciation for the industry.
Carol Baker-Dersch’ s enduring commitment to the Hills District is a shining example of volunteerism and leadership. Her tireless contributions across various sectors— from community service to heritage conservation and youth engagement— have left a lasting positive impact. The Castle Hill Electorate proudly congratulates Carol Baker-Dersch, Castle Hill’ s Local Woman of the Year for 2025.
Mark Hodges MP, Member for Castle Hill, said:“ I am incredibly proud to recognise Carol Baker-Dersch as an outstanding role model in our community.
