A main theme running though this month ’ s issue is Remembrance Day , a special day around the world . At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare . The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained a special significance and has been a revered event in our calendar ever since . Many will gather for a minute ’ s silence and to pay tribute to the brave men and women who served our country , p30-32 .

Our wedding feature focusses on celebrations of a very different type . It seems gone are the days when your invite list became longer than a piece of string ! Intimate , elegant , very personalised events are now trending , p18 onwards .

Christmas is just around the bend and it comes hand in hand with

joyous events . The fabulous Light Up Windsor Street Fair will be the biggest yet , as this is the first year the festivities will extend past Windsor Mall to Windsor train station , thanks to an Open Streets Program grant of $ 65,000 from the NSW Government . The ever popular Find a Reindeer is back , so be prepared with your eagle eyes and your passports ! P34 .

If you fancy theatre instead of an outdoor festival , check out the Castle Hill Players . They present Grand Horizons at the Pavilion Theatre from mid-November for three weeks , p33 . This Tony nominated comedy ‘ bursts with all the joy and pathos of everyday life , theatre at its most enjoyable and familiar .’ Director Jason Darlington says , “ A family comedy with heart .
