If you are overwhelmed by all the things on your to do list , then take the advice of Kendra , the woman behind The Lazy Genius podcast and stop trying to get everything done .
Her idea is to be a genius at the things that matter in your life and lazy about the stuff that isn ’ t so important . Confused ? Well , her podcast helps you to set up processes for the things that matter , like house rules , building routines for your family and meal planning .
I just finished listening to an episode that I wish I had listened to in
December , all about summer meals . She talks about how we don ’ t have to have a big meal at dinner time , we can have a large breakfast or a fancy lunch and do the cooking when it ’ s cooler , instead of at night when we are hot and tired and can ’ t be bothered to cook . See ? Genius !
Another fun episode was how to make a memory like a lazy genius , which is something we all strive to do with our families but feel a lot of pressure to do the big things , when sometimes it is the little things that matter most .
So , having small rituals with your family or friends , like Sunday pancakes , Friday night games , or simply enjoying a quiet moment , is important .
You can find The Lazy Genius podcast and blog at www . thelazygeniuscollective . com or where you listen to podcasts .
The Lazy Genius will help you do the things that matter to you , better .

What to do with bread tags

by Lorna Gordon
Bread tags are one of those pesky pieces of plastic that we often discard with ease . It ’ s small , so we overlook its impact on our environment , much the way we have done with straws in the past .
However , like straws , bread tags make their own impact by polluting our environment , and if they find their way into water ways , eventually end up in our oceans .
Not only are the micro plastics which the tags are made from harmful to all of us , but marine life in particular can ingest them . So , what can you do about them ? If you have these tags on food items that you purchase , don ’ t throw them in the bin . Use a container ( a recycled jar is perfect for this ) and pop them in each time you get one . When you get enough of the tags you can send them off to be used in different projects . Terracycle Terracycle takes used bread tags and repurposes them into new plastic goods , helping to reduce the amount of new plastic produced .
This option is great for schools and community groups as they ask for a minimum of 1 kilo of tags to be sent each time you recycle . For each kilo that is sent to them , $ 1 will go towards the Keep Australia Beautiful program . Info : www . terracycle . com . The Bread Tag Project This project will accept all kinds of bread tags in any number . They take this humble piece of plastic and use it in art installations , turn it into jewellery , and use in awareness campaigns about single use plastic as well as other creative projects . Bread Tags for Wheel Chairs If you want your bread tags to help people in need , why not start collecting and then send them off to this organisation ? They take the pesky plastic and it is transformed into decorative bowls and trays as well as other goods , which are then sold to the public . The proceeds from the tags are used to buy wheelchairs for needy people in South Africa . Info : ozbreadtagsforwheelchairs . org . au .
So , get a clean recycled jar , start popping your plastic tags in whenever you get them and send them off to the organisation of your choice when you have collected enough . Why not ask your neighbours or school to get involved in this activity too !
