One of our own publishes a book
Lachlan Turner is a volunteer at The Community Environment Centre at Annangrove , and he also writes the Hidden in The Hills column each month for us at the Hills Independent . We are proud to announce that Lachlan has recently self-published a book , Historic and Heritage Court Houses in New South Wales .
Over 400 known court house buildings in NSW are presented in Lachlan ’ s 410 page book , featuring colour photographs taken during his five years state-wide research into the distinctive architecture of NSW court house buildings . Brief historical details are included with each entry . Also included are many former court house buildings which have been repurposed for a range of other functions .
Travelling widely throughout the entire state , Lachlan and his partner Marion , have recorded otherwise little-known features of local court houses including their coats of arms , plaques , signs and lockups .
A comprehensive photographic crossreferenced index completes this unique historical book .
Historic and Heritage Court Houses in New South Wales is not for sale from local bookshops . Lachlan chose to have his publication printed in Sydney and it can be purchased directly from him .
