News flash : Santa ’ s on the ( lolly ) run in Rouse Hill

Rev up the big truck , sound the sirens , flick on the flashing lights , Santa is catching a ride with Rouse Hill Rural Fire Brigade crews for the annual Christmas Lolly Run this month .
Just before he heads out for his worldwide trip on Christmas Eve , it ’ s been confirmed by our friends at the station that Santa will start his run from the fire shed at 1pm on Saturday , 10 December .
It ’ s a long-held tradition in many districts for Santa and his volunteer fiery helpers to give out lollies to residents who line the roads waving hello to the fire crews who look after our safety year round , but especially during bushfire season .
Lights and sirens but no sleigh : Santa checked over his 1964 Ford Galaxie and the rest of the convoy at last weekend ’ s visit to the fire shed to ensure everything is ready for the upcoming Rouse Hill RFB Lolly Run .
The jolly man in red and his helpers have a stash of lolly bags – some 15,000 of them are ready to go thanks to F45 Rouse Hill who sponsored the goodies .
It ’ s our favourite event of the year , says brigade community engagement coordinator Neridene Goss .
“ It ’ s great to see your smiling faces and messages of support , and we love seeing the street parties held while you keenly await our arrival ,” she said .
“ This year Santa will be hitting the streets in his big white 1964 Ford Galaxie , followed by his helpers in Rouse Hill Pumper , Rouse Hill 1 , Rouse Hill Recovery and Rouse Hill PC .”
“ Santa dropped into the station over the weekend to check all the trucks in his convoy were in good working order .
“ We were able to take this quick photo of him before he vanished back to the North Pole ! He remembered his sunnies for the hot Australian sun .”
So residents don ’ t miss all the action , you ’ ll be able to track Santa ’ s location on the brigade ’ s tracker app .
“ And , you ’ ll no doubt hear the Christmas carols from Santa ’ s navigation support team ,” Neridene added .
