Two locals nominated for NSW Sports Awards

Cherrybrook ’ s highly respected track and field coach , Alex Stewart , and the Hills Hornets Wheelchair Basketball team were finalists in the NSW Sports Awards held at the International convention and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour on November 28 .
We will let you know how the nominees fared in our next edition , but crikey , just to be listed as finalists is a tremendous honour . Alex was the man behind the

Brad and the RFS Rouse Hill team during a very informative session on selecting the right pump for the job and , buying the best equipment . which has stood for 25 year , clearing 2.02 metres in the World Athletics Championships at Oregon last July . Since linking with Alex , he has mentored her to a long list of achievements highlighted by many magnificent performances this year which include gold at the world championships , silvers at the World Indoor titles and Commonwealth Games , and No 2 in world rankings behind Ukraine ’ s Yaroslava Mahuchikh .
Mahuchikh holds her position following four wins on the trot , including the World Indoor title , before finishing runner-up to Eleanor in Oregon .
Alex also coached Brandon Starc to a silver medal at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games .

Dural Country Club News
The Bendigo Bank Carnival is over …
… and what a resounding success it was ! Sixteen teams competed in the Graded 2 Bowl Triples Carnival at the Dural Country Club Bowling Club on Monday November 7th .
The overall winners were Revesby Workers ’ Club taking home prize money of $ 450 and second place went to North Epping Bowling Club and coming in third was St Ives Club followed closely by Beecroft Bowling Club .
A great day was had by all and thanks go also to our secondary sponsor T J Andrews Funeral Services . A terrific time at Toongabbie !
A group of eight lady bowlers from Dural Country Club Bowling Club travelled to Toongabbie Sports Club during October for a friendly game of bowls . The members at Toongabbie were warm and very welcoming .
Unfortunately , both our teams were beaten by Toongabbie but nonetheless the morning was most enjoyable . Dural Bowls hope to reciprocate in the very near future . and has fostered me and allowed me to grow , not only as an athlete , but more importantly , as a person ,” Eleanor said .
The Hills Hornets Waratah Wheelchair League team competed in the 2022 Spalding Waratah Wheelchair League and performed brilliantly throughout the season to qualify for the grand final where they came up against arch-rivals Canberra . The grand final was a hard fought affair for the first two quarters but in the final two stanzas , the Hornets really stung their opponents and cruised away to a commanding 43-22 victory .
The victory continued the Hornets ’ unbeaten run throughout the season
Hornet , Anderson Parker , was named MVP in the grand final to add to his Wheelchair League Player of the Year Award .
Henri turns 70 !
One of Dural Bowls Club most popular and regular bowlers Henri Chan celebrated his 70th Birthday with the ladies recently . He was thrilled to receive a birthday card from the Club and everyone shared a slice of his birthday cake . Many happy returns of the day Henri !
