Skoda recently added a 140kW model to its Octavia range , the 140TSi Limited Edition at $ 52,490 drive-away joining 110kW Ambition and Style grades launched earlier last year . While the entry Octavia 110TSI Ambition sedan kicks off at $ 37,490 drive-away the new 140TSI Limited Edition takes the Czech sedan into premium territory .

A 2.0-litre turbo 140kW sevenspeed dual clutch automatic with three drive modes in a stylish yet subtle five door body that opens to a sumptuous interior with ErgoComfort leather seats with heating , ventilation and massage functions , a fabulous head up display , 10 airbags and even an iPad holder for rear seat passengers . Complimented with a superbly laid out dash and a new 10-inch infotainment screen .

As part of the Volkswagen Group , one could be forgiven for thinking you were driving a top end Volkswagen or Audi . Given there ’ s a shrinking number of sedans in the market I found

it refreshing to be driving this very polished model which feels far more premium than its price indicates . The exterior , with its sharp edge but subtle styling , opens to an interior that is very much a class above – the seats by any measure are extremely comfortable and accommodating in a cabin with good legroom dimensions .

As I ’ ve recently commented regarding the distractive nature of touch screens , the volume control knob has been replaced by a slider control which is simply not user friendly and takes your eyes off the road . The stop / start function is also now buried in the infotainment screen menu and is not user friendly . These points aside you get a distinct feel in this 140 TSI Octavia Limited Edition that it is batting in a much dearer segment .

Like many importers , Skoda recently lifted Octavia driveaway prices by $ 1,000 to cover increased transport logistics . Economy , I managed 7.3 L / 100km on 95 RON petrol but the range is disappointing as it only has a 45-litre fuel tank .

The 140 TSI Limited Edition in my opinion is the pick of the Skoda Octavia sedan range and the good news is that
