Northholm Grammar ’ s holistic education A VISION FOR CHARACTER AND RESILIENCE

Northholm Grammar firmly believes that character and resilience are as crucial to young people ’ s future success as academic qualifications . Hence our commitment to an educational philosophy based on ‘ academic intentionality with pastoral attentiveness ’.
Our strategic intent to cultivate a learning environment that allows each student to become the best version of themselves includes a strong focus on moral character development , self-efficacy , self-determination , adaptive expertise ( building resilience ), selflessness and leadership .
Underlined within this approach is the significance of pupils learning about the importance of positive personal attributes such as self-respect and self-worth ,

At Northholm we aim at building strong and positive relationships and embrace the character and resilience needed to deal with life ’ s inevitable challenges .
Our recent students ’ extraordinary achievements reflect our holistic educational approach and offer an insight into what life at Northholm is all about . Some of our students ’ outstanding achievements during this term are below .

Character and resilience are the qualities , the inner resources that we call on to get us through the setbacks that are part and parcel of life . Fundamentally , education is about making sure our students have everything they need to realise their potential .
This includes offering them a broad and rich curriculum which gives them the knowledge and skills that will set them up for success in further study and in the world of work . But education should also support young adults to build their confidence and resilience , helping them to navigate through life ’ s ups and downs .
