 Stuck in a marketing rut ?
 Hills Shire Council is offering a free Marketing Makeover Program for local businesses .
 The four-week program , presented by marketing guru Tiz Porreca , will provide you with strategies and tips on writing an effective marketing plan , brief and activities to stand out from the crowd .
 “ Small business owners work incredibly hard and spend long hours juggling multiple hats within their own company ,” said Mayor Dr Peter Gangemi .
 “ When local businesses succeed , the flowon effects are phenomenal . Not only does our local economy become invigorated , but more people can secure work close to home and our communities and neighbourhoods become even more attractive .” The program begins on Tuesday , 9 August .  Remembering the Easter Show
 Museum Discovery Centre Castle Hill has a free exhibition during July on the history of the Royal Easter Show .
 A rite of passage for families for almost two centuries , the exhibition takes you through treasures of yesteryear that evoke the sweet anticipation of showbags , pungent smell of livestock and colour and racket of Sideshow Alley , as well as stories of farmers and manufacturers displaying their goods and stock to win prestigious Royal Sydney Ribbons .
 The exhibition is open Fridays 1 , 8 , 15 , 22 and 29 July from 10am to 4pm at the centre 172 Showground Road , Castle Hill .
 New Hills police recruits
 Two new probationary constables begin service with the Hills Police Area Command , following the graduation of Class 353 .
 A total of 200 recruits ( 134 men and 66 women ), plus four detection police dogs and four general purpose police dogs were sworn in at the Police Attestation ceremony in Goulburn .
 Our north west metropolitan region received 40 recruits : Blacktown PAC – 4 , Blue Mountains PAC – 3 , Hawkesbury PAC – 2 , Kuring Gai PAC – 3 , Mt Druitt PAC – 4 , Nepean PAC – 3 , North Shore PAC – 5 , Northern Beaches PAC – 6 , Parramatta PAC – 4 , Ryde PAC – 4 , The Hills PAC – 2 .
