Sydney Hills Gymnastics enjoy triumphant month

The Sydney Hills Gymnastics have had one of their biggest months of the year competing in the Senior State Championships and Junior State Championships in April .
These championships have given all gymnasts with the Sydney Hills club the opportunity to show off their skills and talent at an exciting event in front of multiple judges .
At the Senior State Championships held on the weekend of 2 and 3 April , all nine Men ’ s Artistic Gymnasts ( Lucas Rogers , Varchas Malik , Tom Zurcher , Max Langdon , Ritam Malik , Lucas Engesser , Leium De-Roo , Zachary Brotherton ) and two Acrobatics Pairs gymnasts ( Hana Heo and Catie Boffa and Akasha Prasad and Maliyah Mohabbat ), representing the Sydney Hills Gymnastics qualified for Nationals .
There was some disappointing news with Level 6 Women ’ s Pair base contestant Srinidhi Durai , injuring her ankle during the Dynamic routine . Srinidhi and her routine partner Charlotte have competed in state Trials 1 and 2 and have been working hard towards qualifying for Australian National Championship .
The Junior State Championships had to be rescheduled on a couple of occasions but they finally took place on the weekend of 9 and 10 April . Favell shoots up the umpire ranks

Baulkham Hills Netball Association has been making news in the world of umpiring of late , with two players having received the highest national accreditation award – the AA ( All Australia ) badge .
The Independent hears congratulations were in order for Tayla Favell and Tamara Welsford when they were awarded their badges recently . The AA badge is the highest award in Netball Australia ’ s umpire accreditation system ’ s four-tiered development and education pathway – - which is ranked from C badge to B badge to A badge , culminating in the prestigious AA badge .
Both girls are excellent role models , according to the association , which stated the honour was “ no small undertaking ” taking a huge amount of work , commitment and dedication to the sport .
“ Tayla is an amazing role model to our up-and-coming and seasoned umpires ,” it published .
“ We are so proud and can ’ t wait to see what comes next on your umpiring journey .
“ We also want to congratulate Tamara Welsford … who was part of the Baulko family in the early days of metro league and another great role model for all those umpires who know her .”
The AA badge is an elite umpiring qualification reserved for candidates who display the highest levels of technical proficiency , rule understanding and game management . represented by Acrobatic , Women ’ s Artistic Gymnastics and Men ’ s Artistic Gymnastics squads .
Twenty six talented acrobatic gymnasts performed routines showing their skills . Their coaches made it possible for them to participate and achieve some excellent results due to their hard work and dedication . Fifteen Women ’ s Artistic Gymnastics gymnasts wowed the judges with their routines on four apparatuses . Men ’ s Artistic Gymnastics was made up of thirty seven dedicated gymnasts performing routines on six apparatuses .
Securing gold in particular events while representing Sydney Hills Gymnastics at the Junior Championships were Darena Brizhineva , Victoria Hatzisavas , Scarlett Patmore , Alicia Hu , Suzy Lee , Joshua Guo , Bronx Spurling , Nicholas Nguyen , Oscar Wood , David Liew , Jarod Ian De Jesus , Oscar Rogers , Logan Ross , Alastair Wood , Benjamin Smith , Damian Shurunov , Benjamin Tang , Daniel West , Michael Collins , and Level 2 ACRO Pair of Ivy Davie and Elysse Ingall . Dural Bowls has two new champs

Dural Bowls Club now lays claim to having two minor singles champions following the finals play off last month .
Reg Munusamy and Robert Whiddon ’ s game was close for the first nine ends with the score being 6-4 in favour of Reg .
Reg then accelerated the pace , quickly taking a 22-7 lead . Over the next eight ends , Robert fought back to bring the score to 22-16 , however Reg won the day taking control at the end of play for 25-16 score .
In picture perfect conditions on Easter Tuesday the women ’ s 2022 minor singles final was contested between Lyn Luxford and Anne Wilson . In the early stages it was a see-sawing game of changing fortunes . Lyn forged to the front , taking a 17-8 lead , however Anne was not giving up easily and fought back courageously to take the final score to 18-22 .
