Situated only a 45 - 50 minute drive from the Hills area and on the banks of the Hawkesbury River is the town of Wisemans Ferry .
Established in 1827 The Wisemans Inn Hotel still retains all the charm and heritage of its time . The inn is now run and operated by former Australian Wallaby , Bill Young and you can be assured of some great country hospitality when you visit .
Stay a day or two in one of the hotel ’ s heritage rooms or in the motel adjoining the hotel .
There is plenty to discover at Wisemans , including a trip across the Hawkesbury on one of only four punts left on the river .
The ferry runs 365 days a year , 24 hours a day and you can go on as a foot passenger or
take your vehicle .
Cobham Hall Museum is now open every day of the week from 10am and is free .
This convict hand-hewn sandstone building was erected in 1826 and was the original grand old residence of Solomon Wiseman .
The sandstone walls are still intact , put together with mortar made from cooked oyster shells . The hand-hewn rafters are exposed , with some of the original shingles and plaster lining showing .
It is one of the few buildings left standing in Australia from this age . Kate Grenfell ’ s novel , The Secret River , is based on this home .

The Grub on the Green bistro offers fresh , upmarket cuisine at club prices and the service is efficient and friendly . Ingredients are sourced from local producers where possible . Singles , couples and families are all welcome to join in our social barefoot bowls , so why not enjoy a game of lawn bowls whilst you are here ? Bookings are essential .
The club seats up to 80 people - ideal for a corporate event or a large family gathering .
Bingo is on Mondays from 9.30am . Happy Hour is Monday , Tuesday and Friday 4-6pm and Saturday 2-4pm .
On Wednesdays there is a $ 10 special at the Grub on the Green .
Thursday is members ’ badge draw and meat raffles , and on Friday nights there is a pool competition .
