leadership team get a taste of MacKillop House Norwest !
Food is such an important part of our residents ’ daily lives , and in recently the Catholic Healthcare leadership team had an opportunity to sample a beautiful home cooked dinner at the newly opened MacKillop House Norwest .
The team spent the night at the home , in a once in a lifetime experience , which included sampling a taste of the new menu and experiencing sleeping in a resident ’ s room .
“ Food is often people ’ s greatest fear when moving into aged care , and we need to showcase and celebrate the wonderful work our dieticians , chefs and catering assistants do at our homes ,” says Karen Borg , Catholic Healthcare CEO .
“ MacKillop House ’ s chef , Shiran and catering assistant , Pradip treated us to a beautiful meal including cauliflower soup , roast chicken , baked potatoes and vegies , followed by sticky date pudding with ice cream for dessert . It was a real treat ,” says Brett Reedman , CIO .
Julie Farquhar , the ho1me ’ s new residential manager , joined the leadership team for dinner where she shared her insights and perspective on the new home .
“ The home is beautifully appointed with peaceful outdoor garden terraces for the residents to enjoy ,” says Julie .
The team retired for the night in the home ’ s brand new rooms , waking in the morning to the peaceful view of St Joseph ’ s Baulkham Hills - its jacaranda trees in full bloom .
“ The rooms are so spacious and quiet , and there are a lot of open spaces and light ,” says Therese Adami , General Manager , Home & Community Services .
“ It was such a special opportunity to experience what the residents ’ daily lives are like – and a real insight into their ‘ lived experiences ’.
“ Without a lock on the door , it was a reminder of how important it is to respect residents ’ privacy and dignity – it ’ s such a simple thing , but so important .”
Without a doubt , the overnight stay was a novel experience for our leadership team and a great way for them to witness just how Catholic Healthcare delivers our five core values - compassion , respect , honesty , hospitality and excellence in real time .
