Recently , with 16 colleagues from across Australia , I launched a draft private member ’ s bill designed to create better infrastructure , better customer service , and more accountability for telecommunications companies .
I did this because of the continued poor service in our community and the inaction of telcos to fix what is an essential service . Far too many people in our community have substandard telecommunications – no mobile reception , poor internet speeds . Our community is paying the telco bills and not getting the service they paid for .
Day after day I hear stories about poor phone and internet service and the telcos ’ inaction in doing anything about it .
Earlier this year the campaign we ran in Berowra led to the creation of the Peri- Urban Mobile Program which is designed to address mobile blackspots in bushfire prone communities like ours .
This new bill proposes several changes including a Universal Mobile Service Obligation , a Customer Service Guarantee and a ‘ No service , No fee ’ provision meaning that anyone who is without

Thank you to the people of Mitchell service at their home or business for more six hours between 8:00am and 8:00pm over a month gets that month of service for free .

The bill will tie telco executive pay to improved customer service outcomes and make telcos , and their executives , financially liable for preventable deaths caused through their inaction .
It ’ s time the telcos dealt with the real problems that people in our electorate face every single day .
The response from the public has shown me that we are on the right track and I will continue to fight for a better telco service for our community .

I thank the Prime Minister for my appointment to Cabinet as Minister for Immigration , Citizenship , Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs . Coming from Western Sydney and a migrant family myself I understand how important a well-managed migration program is for our society and for our economic prosperity .
Under the Morrison Government , Australia continues to successfully integrate people from so many different cultures and backgrounds into our values and way of life . It is a privilege to be part of that great tradition .
Thank you to every person who makes this possible for me . My loving family and the many people that I seek advice from every day . And to you , my community , it is a moment of quiet pride for me to be able to be the first Cabinet Minister to represent the Federal electorate of Mitchell since its inception in 1949 . Thank you for your immense support in continuing to represent you and our beautiful country in our Parliament .
Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum
On Friday 8 October , the virtual Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum was held , with 13 schools , over 180 students and volunteer leaders and 20 breakout rooms ! This year marks 20 years of the Forum and this alternative format ensured we were able to still support this cohort of student leaders and provide them with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills .
The students participated in keynotes focused on leadership and resilience , team building activities and discussions about the forum ’ s values of service , integrity and courage . Thank you to the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum committee , volunteer leaders , schools , keynote speakers Matt Kershaw and Barnaby Howarth and sponsors ( Nature ’ s Sunshine Products Australia and Castle Towers - QIC ) who all continued to support us with this vision !
