FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK A new year is usually full of beginnings, but this year I’m kicking off 2019 with an ending. This is my last issue of The Hills Independent as Editor. I have moved out of the area and I am busily creating a new life and new direction for myself and my young family. It’s been frightening and exciting all at the same time. I have been writing for HDI News since 2011 and took on the role of Editor of The Hills Independent for our very first issue way back in July 2015 after taking on the role of Editor of The Hawkesbury Independent six months before that. It’s been a rollercoaster of interviews, deadlines, photo shoots, creating content, whipping up stories, editing and proofreading. And I feel privileged to have told the stories of so many wonderful people, businesses and organisations in our community. It’s an easy thing to do in a community with soul. I will be sad to leave behind the wonderful team here at HDI News. You know, you gotta be a little crazy to work in publishing and our team is testament to that! Early mornings, late nights, weekends, loud staff meetings, frantic phone calls, chasing stories – you never really get a chance to switch off. But that’s how we roll.
