... FROM THE PUBLISHER ’ S DESK ... Your thoughts ? julie @ hdinews . com . au

The third week in March marks the astronomical start of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere , and I am sure we are all hanging out for some cooler weather . The tree canopies in the parklands and reserves will soon start to change colour and form a delight for the eyes as leaves turn all shades of red and gold .
There are lots of winners in the Shire this month . Our Finest , Rachel Golding , founder of Dinner on the Table p6 / 7 , has taken her business from strength to strength and now doesn ’ t even need to be in the kitchen planning and cooking meals ! This is a great success story and Rachel ’ s ready-made meals are now being distributed in some other states . Diner on the Table gifts a number of nutritious meals each month to families in need .
P9 has the run down on Sydney Hills Gymnastics ’ athletes winning several
HDI prestigious awards at the Gymnastics NSW Annual Awards . This was an exceptional year for the club , which runs classes in Castle Hill and Bella Vista .
The Hills Shire Council are submitting an exemption of the NSW Government ’ s low and mid-rise housing reforms . Council believe the proposed policy and buildings outlined in the reforms may affect the family friendly feel of our suburbs . Mayor Gangemi states , ‘ We have already zoned enough land for 50,000 new homes .’
Crown land is important in providing spaces for recreation and community groups , p12 . The Department of Planning , Housing and Infrastructure is currently conducting a study and you are encouraged to have your say about its management and potential reforms . What would you like to see it used for ?
Enjoy this month ’ s news over a cuppa or a chilled drink - until next month .
