BOYS’
SPORTS
Hockey
The boys’ hockey term began on a high
note with Hillcrest teams showing a
lot of enthusiasm and commitment
to do well. This came out clearly with
the number of students who travelled
to play in important league matches
at St. Andrews School, Turi. The boys’
guiding philosophy this year has been:
respect,responsibility and reason.
U14 Boys
The U14 boys won their first match
against Braeburn Gitanga Road; as
the term progressed, they beat St.
Christopher’s 6-0 in an entertaining
match. The goals were scored by William
Mayer, Mbugua Wanyoike, Ivan Njuguna
and Sarijore Moloimet. In the Peponi
School tournament, the boys lost 0-1 in
the semi-final match against Braeburn
Gitanga Road which was surprising as
they had beaten them in their maiden
match. However, they showed good
teamwork and determination, which
should inspire them to do better in the
next season.
U15 Boys
The U15 boys had an impressive
season. They started off by beating St.
Christopher’s and Braeburn B, and drawing against Braeburn A and Braeside in the
Braeburn Gitanga Road warm up tournament. The students really enjoyed playing
on Braeburn’s astro turf where they displayed some amazing skills and combination
play. Shahryar scored the U15 classic goal by dribbling through a wall of defence.
The boys thrashed GEMS Cambridge School 5-1 with Sohail scoring a hat trick
and Ryan and Dev scoring a goal each. In another match, the U15 boys put up an
amazing performance against GEMS winning 7-0. Shahryar scored four times with
Ivan, Shay and Ryan each scoring a goal for the team. In their second league match
against Nairobi Academy, they managed to win 2-1 with the goal scorers being Ryan
and Simani. Tired from back-to-back matches, the boys managed a narrow 1-0 win
