Girls’ Rounders
U19 Girls
The under 19 girls’ rounders’
league began with a solid
win against GEMS Cambridge
International School. This
boosted our confidence and
motivation as we carried on
the league to have an unbeaten
season. We played Premier
Academy, Braeburn Garden
Estate, Greensteds School and
Oshwal Academy.
We ended the season with 2
league matches that would
determine our position in the
finals. We played a tense match
against Peponi A team, winning
by a close margin and went
on to play St. Andrew’s
Turi. Our match against Turi
brought out the best of both
teams as we battled it out for
victory. We qualified for a slot in
the league finals where we were
to play our biggest rivals, Turi,
again. This time round we were
certain of making mincemeat
out of them but unfortunately
with all our arsenals out they still
managed to beat us with a very
narrow margin. It was good to
play in the finals as a team which
has bonded together for the past
5 years. We had no regrets for the
score line because we gave it our
utmost best for the sake of the
school especially seeing as it was
our last rounders match playing
for Hillcrest.
In the under 19 league we came
second overall. We were proud
of our position and learnt a lot
from our experiences, leaving
us stronger and more skilful. All
the best for next year since this is
our final year.

U15 Girls
The U15 girls went up to Green-
steds for a rounders tournament
in the course of the season. The
Hillcrest A team was placed
in pool “A” which consisted of
Oshwal B, Nairobi International
School (NIS), Braeburn B, and
Greensteds A. Our first match
was against Oshwal B where
we easily won 8 – 4, followed
quickly by a match against NIS
in which we triumphed with a 9
- ½ win. The victories fired us up
so that by the time we met Brae-
64
burn B, we were ready to thrash
them- we narrowly managed to
beat them 12 - 8. Tired from
these back-to-back matches, we
met Greensteds A, the last team
in our pool. It was our toughest
match but we still sent them
away reeling from our relentless
blows with a 5-1 humiliation.
This automatically allowed us to
qualify straight for the finals. We
were determined to prevail in
the finals and to lift the trophy
but Braeburn A were not taking
it lying low! This was by far the
most intense match of the season
with both teams playing incredi-
bly well. It was sad that they beat
us 20-10 in the second half of
the match when we showed the
first signs of tiredness. We ended
up as the runners up in the U15
rounders season.
I’d like to congratulate all the
girls for participating and play-
ing exceptionally well.
