Highest Paid Ladies in Music Industry 1 | Page 2

Forbes Releases Highest Paid Pop Ladies Forbes, on Wednesday, released all year-awaited rankings of the highest paid woman in music world. As we all know by now, Taylor Swift has claimed the 1st position with a net of $170 million, where majority of the chunk has come from the most successful 1989 tour of the pop diva along with some endorsement deals. At second position is the world’s sweetheart Adele, grossing about $80.5 million in 2016. The singer is known for having a rather old-school way of running the show around, as her earnings are merely stressed on the albums sold and not on shows, endorsements, etc. like the usual contemporaries pop stars. When we look at the gap between the winner and runner-up, the difference is quite considerable. However, if we have to look at the subsequent runner-ups, the gap is not that big. Following Adele are Madonna and Rihanna with $76.5 million and $75 million respectively. Where many of Beyoncé fans were thinking that Lemonade tour will get her a higher position on the list, the singer only managed to came on 5th position with a net of $54 million income. As Forbes noted, that will almost certainly change next year with the inclusion of her Formation World Tour. Since this year’s rankings were generated from data gathered between June 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016, most of her absurdly lucrative tour – it grossed more than $250 million – wasn’t factored in. “I take enormous pleasure and comfort in the fact that female artists are growing in success both in terms of revenues earned and their influence in the music industry,” entertainment attorney Lori Landew of Fox Rothschild told Forbes. “Many of these artists are enjoying what I see as a continuing cultural shift that allows and enables them to shed prior societal constructs imposed on them about how they should sound or look or dress on stage or on screen in order to appeal to a broader audience.” The rest of the top 10 was rounded out with Katy Perry ($41 million), Jennifer Lopez ($39.5 million), Brittany Spears ($30.5 million), Shania Twain ($27.5 million, the highestpaid woman in country music this year since Swift’s gone full pop) and Celine Dion ($27 million). http://www.researchomatic.com/music-industry-119371.html
