Implications

Coming from the perspective of public transportation in Southern California (especially in Orange County where it is extremely inefficient), one would think that the public transportation systems on the East Coast would be near-perfect. As with anything publicly funded by the government, however, there are pros and cons abound with suitable efficiency and ease-of-usage that could be improved upon. With some students believing that the commuter rail system in Boston was easy to navigate and others believing that it was unnecessarily difficult to use, plans for expanding stations and redevelopment in urban areas may demand and create more efficient public transit in the greater Boston area.

Since I come from Southern California, where the most preferred mode of transit is by car (or if you are less lucky, public bus), I never really thought about the implications of such a system. -Jensen Reyes, Class of 2016
