Planned admission number : 200 places Of the 200 places available :
• 20 are designated as Language Scholarship places
• 40 are designated to Horsenden Primary School
• 20 are designated to The Edward Betham Church of England Primary School
• 120 are designated to criteria 1 , 2 , 3 & 5 as set out below
Where the number of applications is greater than the planned admission number , applications will be considered against the criteria set out below .
After the allocation of children with an EHC plan , the admission criteria will be applied in the following order of priority : 1 . All Looked After Children ( as defined by the Local Authority as children in public care subject to Section 22 of the Children Act ( 1989 ) or children who were previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption , child arrangements , or special guardianship order , have priority over all other applications .
2 . Children with a sibling already on-roll at the Academy who will be on-roll when the child is admitted .
3 . Children for whom William Perkin Church of England High School is the nearest maintained high school or academy , measured in a straight line from a point in the property of the child ’ s home address ( including flats ) to the main entrance of the school .
4 . 40 places will be made available to children attending Horsenden Primary School and 20 places will be made available to children attending The Edward Betham Church of England Primary School . Where the number of students eligible exceeds the quota of 40 places for Horsenden and 20 places for Edward Betham , allocation will be made in accordance with criteria 3 then 5 until the quota is reached . Any places not required by students at Horsenden Primary School or Edward Betham Church of England Primary School will be allocated solely according to criteria 3 and 5 . 5 . Other children .
Tie breaks In the event of oversubscription in any of the above criteria , priority will be given to those living nearest to the academy measured in a straight line from a point in the property of the child ’ s home address ( including flats ) to the main entrance of the school , using the Local Authority ’ s computerised measuring system . In the rare event that applicants ’ distance measurements are exactly the same , in blocks of flats for instance , the place will be allocated randomly .

Waiting lists
Unsuccessful applicants will be offered the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list operated in-house by the school . Applications will be ranked in accordance with the oversubscription criteria set out above and not in the order in which the applications are received or placed on the waiting list . Names will be removed from the list at the end of June each academic year .
Specialist language places
20 places within William Perkin CofE High School will be made available each year for students applying for a place in Year 7 with an identified natural aptitude for language .
How to apply :
• Apply to William Perkin CofE High School in accordance with the Local Authority ’ s co-ordinated admission arrangements using the Home Local Authority Common Application Form .
• Download the Language Scholarship application form from the school website and return the completed form to the school by the specified Language Scholarship closing date 28 September at 12noon .
• All Language Scholarship applicants will be invited to attend a language and linguistic aptitude assessment on 1 October at 4pm .
• Your child ’ s assessment score will be issued via email together with their ranked position on the Language Scholarship List on 12 October .
• Students who are not offered a Language Scholarship place in March will be placed on a Language Scholarship Waiting List , ranked according to their score . If a place becomes available it will be offered to the applicant whois highest on the waiting list . In the case of a tie on score , those students living nearer the school , measured in a straight line from a point in the property of the child ’ s home address ( including flats ) to the main entrance of the school , will be given priority .
