adopted (or became subject to a child arrangements
order or special guardianship order)
2. Girls who have a sister who is currently attending The
Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls and who will still be

3. Those with a parent employed by the School for two
or more years at the time at which the application for
admission is made
4. Girls who suffer from a confirmed medical condition or
with traumatic incidents in their background where the
admissions panel accept a professional recommendation
that the pupil should attend The Ellen Wilkinson School
for Girls rather than any other school (supporting
written evidence will be required). There will need to
be a very clear link between the applicant’s particular
special needs and the school. Parents will need to submit
a case supported by appropriate evidence from a doctor,
a social worker or similar professional.
5. Proximity of the girl’s home to school, with those living
nearer being accorded the higher priority. The distance
from home to school is measured by straight line from
a point in the property determined by Ordnance Survey
to the nearest gated entrance which is used by pupils to
enter the school grounds.
It is assumed that any parent applying for a place at Ellen
Wilkinson has a preference for single sex (girls) education.
Therefore, a wish for single sex education will not be used
as a criterion to distinguish between applicants.
