January February March
Thought the Alps in winter was all
about skiing? Think again. If you’re a
group of between 4 & 8 looking for
some winter sun and wonderful land-
scapes, try snow shoeing in the Alps.
We have guided holidays for novices as
well as those looking for something
more challenging. See page 9. Why not jet off to southern Spain for
warm winter sun. Walk in Andalucia in
the beautiful Grazalema National Park &
visit the extraordinary village of Ronda.
Or walk in the Sierra Nevada and visit
the treasures of the historic Alhambra
Palace in Granada.
See page 55. The Calanques National Park in
Provence is an ideal early spring
break. Enjoy the stunning scenery &
views where cliffs surround wonder-
ful drowned valleys. March is a great
month to choose, with only the first
week coinciding with French school
holidays. See page 32.
April May
Spring truly gets under way in all but
the higher altitudes. If you’re looking
for warm weather, quiet trails and stun-
ning medieval villages then why not
take a look at either of our moderate
walking holidays in the Luberon in
Provence or the Tarn in south west
France. See pages 29 & 48. The height of spring is a great time
to visit the stunning waterfalls and
the dramatic gorges of the Jura or
the panoramic landscapes of the
beautiful Beaujolais region and taste
their contrasting wines. The Burgun-
dy is also an ideal destination at this
time of year. See pages 21 - 27 & 49.
July
As summer arrives so the mountainous
regions of France shed their wintery
coat, whilst at lower altitudes, it’s time
to take advantage of the sunshine
before it gets too hot. An ideal time to
visit the Baronnies where in this beauti-
ful part of Provence the lavender is
coming into flower. See page 31. June is also a great time to visit the
Massif Central. The mountain pastures
are coated in lush green grass and a
stunning array of wild flowers. We have
a variety of destinations from the moun-
tains and volcanoes of the Sancy and
Cantal ranges in the Auverge to the
immense plateaux of the Haut Loire and
the wild and rugged ridges of the
Ardeche. See pages 50 to 52. August September October
Mid June until mid September is the
season for walking in the high moun-
tains of the Alps and Pyrenees. Each
region has its own specific character.
See our regional introductions on
pages 15 & 16, as well individual
holidays on pages 33 to 35 for the
Pyrenees and pages 36 to 45 for the

wine regions, such as Burgundy and
Beaujolais, if you are interested in the
sites, sounds and smells of wine picking.
