The High Point Holidays’ Experience
O
ur walking holidays have been designed
to let you enjoy the best a region has to
offer, avoiding, where possible, main
tourist routes. We choose destinations where
distinct local identity thrives and in France,
with its astonishing regional variety, you'll
discover these differences in culture, history,
architecture, wildlife, landscapes and food.
We aim to make you feel part of the local
way of life with our choice of small guest
houses. We look for traditional guest houses
in beautiful surroundings, where a personal,
friendly service is guaranteed and where
great authentic local food and drink is on
offer.
Small guest houses, big welcome
Our choice of guest houses is synonymous with High Point's
philosophy. We use small independent guest houses, often set
in magnificent surroundings, with their own unique character.
Chosen for the friendliness of the hosts as well as their charm
and quality. Whether it's showing you around their historic
property, or a visit to their cellar to try the wine from their
vineyard, they will take great pleasure in making your stay
extra special and may provide you with some useful tips for
your following day's activities.
"The huge plus factor for me was the opportunity to stay with
a family. It was a unique chance to stay in a private home,
share a meal with the hosts and chat about all manner of
things. We felt part of the country, and not just that we were
skimming the surface. We were delighted and amazed we got
on so well with people. Local produce, regional dishes, home
cooking all contributed. In general the holiday fulfilled all our
expectations and provided much more!" J Kay, UK
"Overwhelmed by the level of hospitality received. We have
walked with other companies in France but this was by far the
best. A thoroughly enjoyable experience." S Adkins, UK
Wonderful Regional Cuisine
Our holidays are all about home cooked local
specialities lovingly prepared with fresh regional
produce, sometimes grown on the farm where
you’re staying. Most evening meals are 4-course
set menus taken in your guest house where you’ll
get to try original and delicious dishes. Meals in
the B&B’s are great experiences, where you share
your table with your hosts and other travellers that
may be staying in the guest house. You will enjoy
a convivial evening with great food, washed down
by the local wine.
Breakfasts are also the occasion to discover the
local specialities. Depending on the particular
guesthouse and the culinary inspiration of your
host, you'll enjoy home-made jams and pastries,
fresh farmhouse bread, local cheeses and dairy
products, and regional cold meats. If picnic
lunches are included in your holiday, they are
usually supplied by your hosts and will take
different forms depending on the holiday. Homemade quiches, salads, pasta dishes or sandwiches
using fresh local produce.
High Point Holidays'
Accommodation of the Year
This year we are delighted to announce that
the winner of our Accommodation of the Year
award is Le Moulinou located within the
parish of Moudeyres on the upland plateau of
the Haute Loire.
Over the last 12 months we have used our customer feedback along with our own experience to judge all our accommodation providers for the quality and service that meet the
High Point philosophy.
Please use our evaluation forms after your holiday to tell us
about those special places and their hosts that have made
your holiday memorable or have exceeded all expectations.
