Independent Walking Pyrenees Trails O ur Pyrenees trails walking holidays discover two beautiful and relatively quiet areas of the Pyrenees mountains in southern France. The first explores the Cerdagne, a picturesque plateau, lying at 2000m in the Eastern Pyrenees. It is a delectable landscape scoured and shaped by Ice Age glaciers leaving behind deep ravines, rocky knolls & an array of beautiful mountain lakes, surrounded by alpine meadows and imposing mountains. This selfguided holiday is designed to be accessible and interesting to both occasional hill walkers & experienced trekkers alike in an area reputed for its sunny climate and natural open air warm springs. Our second holiday goes onto the sides of the delightful and luminous Azun Valley where you’ll marvel at the wonderful panoramas and the well preserved mountain villages. Four of the days have both moderate and more challenging options to suit different abilities and as the week progresses you’ll enter the stunning high mountains of the Pyrenees National Park peppered with beautiful lakes, rich green forests, mountain pastures and beautiful lakes. Accommodation Friendly, family run, two and three star hotels, some with swimming pools and two nights with thermal spa centre in the Cerdagne. Breakfast and evening meals at your hotels. Picnic is not included in the price, but can be ordered from your hosts the evening before. After, pass through the Spanish enclave of Lliva, with typical traditional mountain hamlets. Possibility to shorten the day's walk on the yellow train from Ur to Saillagouse. (6 euros p/p). 4 or 6hrs, +/- 400-450m Day 3: Saillagouse - Mont Louis: Today, you approach Puigmal, the second highest summit in the eastern Pyrenees.
