Vinegar , the superfood that most of us are missing out on , is a hidden gem that does more than sooth a bee or jellyfish sting , go on a salmon sandwich to improve the taste , clear up those pestering blemishes or remove those stains .

It has been around for thousands of years and if you Google ‘ vinegar ’ you will see the endless results that appear listing the countless benefits of using vinegar for many different purposes . For me , I use vinegar to help me with my studies and trust me , after reading this , you ’ ll be adding vinegar to your weekly shopping list too .

You may be wondering how on earth vinegar could help you study ....

In order to study effectively and get the most out of my time , I find you need to have a healthy body . With all the yummy foods around and the numerous times we socialise with friends and family by eating out , it can be hard to maintain a healthy diet . That ’ s where vinegar comes in . Vinegar is one of the best medicines for our immune system ( Catalyst , 2014 ). So how does it work ? According to Sports Dietitian Lisa Middleton ( 2014 ), ‘ Good bacteria are our body ’ s friends and can help our immune system to work at their best and potentially reduce the risk and symptoms of a range of health ailments ’.
In a recent episode of Catalyst , an exploration of the relationship between our food , our gut bacteria and our health revealed that if we feed our gut bacteria well they will thank us by producing compounds that can improve our health . Pretty much , we need to feed our gut the right fuel it needs to improve the environment .
A happy gut environment = a healthy body = more study time
We all need a balanced diet that is high in fibre , and supplementing our diet by adding vinegar can help promote better health . This is because vinegar contains acetate and this is what our good bacteria make . Acetate can stop the immune system from over-reacting ; it calms the immune system and creates good health !

You may be wondering what some of the actual health benefits you might notice after consuming vinegar are …
Well , just to name a few , they include :
• reduced bloating
• increased benefits of vitamins and minerals from foods due to better absorption
• muscles able to produce more energy efficiency
• lowered blood sugar levels and increased ability to fight diabetes
• increased ability to lose weight ( Gunnars 2017 ; Narins 2016 ).
If you ’ re like me , vinegar might not be that sweet taste you look forward to consuming , but if you want to give vinegar a go and improve your gut environment , which will in turn enhance your ability to focus on study , Carol Johnston , a Professor at Arizona State University , recommends having 1 – 2 tablespoons mixed with water a day , taken on an empty stomach immediately before eating ( Narins 2016 ).
So next time you ’ re at the supermarket , don ’ t forget to grab a bottle of vinegar ; it might just be the key to getting that HD , because the fundamental component to effective study is a healthy body !
