Alex from What the Teacher
Wears shares her top 5 trends
for Autumn
MILITARY
The military trend is polished, sculpted and sophisticated.
From streamlined sheepskin coats to quilted parkas, luxurious
outerwear is the focus. Mix with chic leather separates and
tonal knits in burgundy and navy.
BOHO
The 70s has once again found it’s way into our wardrobe and
this time it’s with the long, flowy dresses. The amazing thing
about this style is that it super comfortable and very flattering.
The dresses also come in a wide variety of different prints from
vivid coloured prints to romantic crochet and lace options.
KNITWEAR
Knit has come a long way since the daggy, no shape jumpers
of old. This season you will see lots of tied waists, flared hems
and off-the-shoulder knits. Knitwear is perfect for layering.
ROMANTIC
Romance is back in fashion and nothing says romantic like a
frill.Or actually, loads of them. So invest in something with a
bit of undulating prettiness to it but at the same time don't
go OTT.
DENIM TREND
If you add just one piece of denim to your wardrobe make
it a pair of cropped flare jeans. And as with any new denim
trend, it's important to style your outfit to flatter your body
shape. Wear this style with a blazer or button-down shirt.
This autumn sees a return of some trends from years gone by
with everyday wardrobe staples. My key tip for trend dressing
is to only invest in it if you love it. Otherwise, spend big on
your wardrobe staples and save on trend pieces.
