music
Mercury Sun, hailing from Toowoomba is one of South
East Queensland’s or even Australia’s best kept secrets.
This is a band that perfectly mixes a range of genres
including blues, indie pop and classic rock into a truly
infectious sound that appeals to a vast range of listeners
including concert-goers who like to rock out or those
who enjoy relaxing while watching with a cold drink or
even dancing.
With an EP release under their belt and another one on
the way the band has been incredibly busy over the last
few years playing shows, even with some big names
such as Wolfmother, British India and The Grates.
Their debut EP Waiting For A Beat To Break To
really captures the energy the band resonates whilst
performing live. Each song is an instant hit with even
a somewhat ballad right in the middle of it all. What
I really love about their music is the little things. Even
something as simple as their perfect sounding guitar
tone. The music is laden with musical or vocal hooks
that grab hold of you and refuse to let go. This truly is a
band that deserves to regularly grace large venues and
music festivals.
Performing live the band never disappoints while
showcasing their sound in a wave of rocking guitars,
groovy bass and drum beats accompanied by the use
of a lap steel guitar which really makes them stand out.
After seeing them perform multiple times I can safely
say that if this band is playing somewhere nearby then
you definitely need to check them out. Keep your eyes
out for them in Toowoomba and Brisbane later this year
as well as their appearance on Balcony TV in June.
