Modern Day Analogy
Warm bodies. Its a great movie about a zombie apocalypse. It does a very good job transitioning from comedy, to serious, and to romantic. Though we might all like this movie, we should take note of the analogy at the beginning of the movie. The main character, ‘R,’ explains his life as a zombie. He then wonders how ‘life’ used to be, for the apocalypse. He says, it must have been more social and interactive between each other, as well as more mannerable. This is quite the opposite from his present, zombie life. However, this is where R is wrong. When he says life must of been all ‘great’ and ‘social’ the movie proceeds to show a clip of modern people of 2013. This clip, very accurate, shows the opposite of what R says. He said it must have been social first of all. These people in the clip are in an airport. None of them can be social and interactive with each other, because a screen is block the space between them! This ‘screen’ represents technology. As well as mannerable? The clip also shows people bumping into each other without even the slightest wave to show respect, or ‘sorry.’ This is exactly what the zombies do! They cannot interact, just like modern society. This movie shows R falling in love which brings him back to life. For us? Not much we can do about it. Warm bodies shows us our unsocial reality. The inevitable truth, we will all end up as the people in Wall-E.
