PIONEER TECHNOLOGY & ARTS ACADEMY VALEDICTORIAN | COLIN HIGGINS Colin is the son of Daniel and Hollie Higgins of Greenville .

Colin has attended our PTAA Greenville campus for five years . He will be the Valedictorian of our inaugural graduating class of 2021 . Colin has been an outstanding “ allaround ” student and will be our first senior to graduate with his Associate Degree from Richland College . Not without sacrifice , Colin has attended college since his sophomore year and taken classes every semester , including summers .

Along with his academic achievements , Colin has been an active member of the athletics department for all four years of his high school career . He competed in basketball , tennis , cross country , and track . Colin qualified and competed at regionals in 2019 and 2021 for the 400m and tennis men ’ s singles in 2021 . He currently holds the school record in the 800m , 400m , and 100m events .

Colin has also exhibited his leadership potential at PTAA . He has been a member of the BETA club for four years , where he served as vice president his freshman and sophomore years , and president his senior year . Colin was elected by his classmates to be this year ’ s Senior Class President as well as president of the newly created Student Council .

In addition to his involvement with PTAA , Colin has held a full time job at Chick-Fil-A which allowed him to pay cash for his first car as well as having the ability to cover his insurance , gas , and maintenance costs . His budgeting and savings skills have fully aligned with his desire to become a financial consultant in the future . Colin is very involved in his church and youth group . He is a youth leader in his church and he organized PTAA ’ s very first “ Meet at the Flagpole ” event attended by the majority of the student body .

Family and friends are an important aspect of Colin ’ s life . He has maintained an excellent balance between work , school , family , and social events which can be quite challenging for teenagers .

Colin is looking forward to attending Kansas State University in the fall .
