An advantage coming into 2026 is that many players on the team already know what to expect from past experience. Fauley described the team as“ upperclassmen heavy” with four seniors and 11 juniors.
Some key players that Fauley mentioned returning to the team are players such as running back and linebacker Levi Williams. a returning second-team all-state running back who rushed for 1,448 yards on 117 carries and 28 touchdowns in 2025.
Another all-state player returning to the fold for the Eagles is honorable mention defensive back Owen Johnson, who lit up the stat sheet in 2025 totaling 32 total tackles, four tackles for loss, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Every game on the schedule will be critical in accomplishing a goal Fauley’ s goal – to win a state championship. One key game in the regular season Fauley pointed to as well will be the Eagles’ homecoming game on Sept. 25.
For their 50th anniversary, the Eagles will be renewing a long-standing rivalry against Rockwall Heritage while also celebrating longtime head coach Larry Uland.
Uland became the first six-man football coach inducted into the TAPPS Hall of Fame and is just one of two coaches in the organization’ s history to be inducted. TAPPS will hold a celebration for Uland at midfield during that contest.
Fauley will be looking for those players to be pillars of the team going into 2026 but will also look to other senior leaders such as Jack Feezel, who will head up the team’ s quarterback position as he was a first-team all-district player in 2025. Ky Donnely will also be a key returner on the defensive side of the ball as a first-team all-district defensive lineman alongside Tristan Brown who was a first-team all-district defensive end.
Feezel will be taking snaps from a returning starter as well in 2026 in Ryder Brantner, the Eagles’ starting center.
