LEADS WOLFE CITY WOLVES

Led by the one of the top rushers in the state, the Wolfe City Wolves are setting their sights on a 14th straight trip to the playoffs and beyond.
“ We are expecting a playoff run,” said Brad Smithey, who is back for his third season as head coach of the Wolves.“ We feel we have people in the right place to do so as long as we stay healthy.”
Wolfe City running back H. D. Davis rushed for 2,789 yards and 33 touchdowns on 267 carries in 2024 to rank second in the state and 13th in the nation. Davis also rushed for 1,088 yards and 12 TDs as a sophomore in 2023 though missing seven games with an injury.
“ That dude deserves every award given to him,” Smithey said last year when Davis was a repeat winner of the Greenville Herald-Banner’ s Athlete of the Week award.“ He’ s the hardest worker in the room. Most respectable kid. He’ s a coach’ s dream.” Dave Campbell’ s Texas Football Magazine named Davis to the magazine’ s Class 2A all-state football team on offense along with quarterback Casen Carney off returning state champion Muenster. Davis was also selected as the magazine’ s choice for the Most Valuable Player on offense for District 6-2A-I.
