RETURN TO THE PLAYOFFS

Getting back to the playoffs will definitely be one of the goals of the Commerce Tigers.
Commerce, 5-6 last season, advanced to the playoffs in 2023 after finishing third in District 7-3A-I behind Malakoff and Winnsboro.
“ I expect us to continue to build on our third-place finish from last year,” said Commerce coach John McSheffery.
The Tigers lost some key players on offense off last year’ s team, including running back Jordan McMurray, who rushed for 1,271 yards and 15 touchdowns and quarterback Grant Sherley, who rushed for 647 yards and five scores and passed for 830 yards and 11 TDs.
But they also return most of the offensive line and several skill position players.
“ Our strength will be the offensive line and experience in the skill positions,” said McSheffery.
The veterans on the offensive line include Jaddan Coleman( 6-0, 275, Jr.), Jacori Hearn( 6-1, 330, Sr.), Stephen Gibson( 5-8, 215, Sr.) and Bentley Bell( 6-2, 210, Jr.).
Skill position players back are wide receivers Malik Garcia, Lukah Selvaggi, Carlos Rios and Donovan Maria, plus running back Ky’ Mani Graham. Garcia, who took fourth place last spring in the Class 3A triple jump,
