Waking up early might be one of the most difficult things us humans have to do. If you are not a morning person, it is simply a painful, torturous process. I cannot provide a universal remedy for all the agony this causes us. However, there are a few philosophies that I believe in to aid me in the troublesome journey of arising in the early hours.

Firstly, be grateful that you are not dead. Things could always be worse. The ever-wise, sagacious Buddha once said that every time you prepare to snooze, you should ponder the fact you may not wake up. So when you do, you will feel remarkably pleased that you have an entire day ahead of you to do something meaningful. Too often, we treat the impending twenty-four hours as a burden that we must drag ourselves through. However, it simply is not so. You could perish tonight. Fill every moment to the brim with vibrancy.

Another fantastic thing to do in order to wake up on time, feeling fresh, is to get up right away after you have begun to emerge from the warm cocoon that is slumber. As soon as your alarm sounds, get out of bed without hesitation or pressing the snooze button a million times. In doing this, you will have forgone the most excruciating aspect of waking up.

Once you have gotten out of the bed, take a deep breath. Breathe in through your nose for seven seconds and then hold it for four seconds and exhale for another seven. Imagine that you are inhaling a radiant ball of light that makes your body healthy and happy. Next, I suggest drinking a glass of water. It will help your metabolism and assist you in feeling more awake.

Always make sure that there is something in your imminent day that you are looking forward to experiencing. If you force yourself to get up, only to face a horrid day, there is no way that any part of waking up will be the slightest bit appealing. The process will be much easier if you awake happy and excited to begin a new day.

Waking up can indeed by a horrendous process, but it’s such a lovely way to live. Every day holds so much promise and is waiting for us to discover it. If you awaken with a positive mindset, you will be overwhelmed with tremendous energy and staggering gratitude for the approaching day.

Now arise and smell the roses!
