J: As you continue on this journey, what are some of the most common misconceptions about the transgender community and what is the biggest way people can be an ally?

G: Pronouns are so important. It’s already difficult to come out in the first place, but constantly hearing the incorrect pronoun is terrible nostalgia for who you once were.

J: I agree. What advice would you give our readers who want to find themselves and live the life they were meant to?

G: You have to take care of yourself first. Put yourself in a place where you realize it’s your life, and go above the bare minimum. Take your time - everything in life is a process. Don’t be too early. Take your time, and surround yourself with great people.

J: That’s amazing advice! What do you think is the biggest issue surrounding girls, and if there is a solution, what do you believe it is?

G: Many people have the incorrect view of what feminism is. So many people don’t know what ti means, and that the whole goal of feminism is to promote positive things. We are not anti-women or anti-men. The biggest solution is taking the time to educate people. Teach young girls basic anatomy and what the feminism movement stands for.

J: I love that! What are your plans for the future?

G: I am graduating early in May after passing the GED exam. I hope to get a small job to save up money, and then go out and pursue a career in music.
