Most Americans can match the above group of words with its corresponding tragedy. On August 9, 2014, Officer Darren Wilson shot Michael Brown, a black teenager, on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri. His body was left in the on the ground, frying in the hot sun for hours before it was retrieved by coroners. With word of the shooting, the public cried police brutality, causing protests to erupt across the nation and mass media coverage to transpire for weeks.

Officer Daniel Ken Holtzclaw. Sexual Abuse. Oklahoma.

Most Americans cannot match the above group of words with its corresponding tragedy. On August 29, 2014, Officer Daniel Ken Holtzclaw of Oklahoma City was accused of sexually abusing and/or raping ten black women while on duty. However, neither national protests nor mass media coverage ensued; instead, a handful of articles about the abuse sprinkled the Internet.
