A note from the CEO of the World Hepatitis Alliance Following the adoption of the Global Health Sector Strategy on viral hepatitis in May, World Hepatitis Day (WHD) had special significance this year with the theme of elimination spanning across the globe. Throughout August we’ve received a record amount of photos from all the great activities that took place to celebrate WHD, showing just how effective we can be when we come together and speak with one voice, the NOhep voice. By launching NOhep, the world’s first global hepatitis movement, we have taken a great leap on the journey to elimination – but this is just the beginning. This month has been focused around building on the momentum from WHD, with governments announcing commitment to elimination and experts meeting to ensure a world without hepatitis is possible. As key dates such as WHD pass, it is encouraging to see that elimination remains at the forefront of discussions. It is the very reason NOhep has been launched: to build on the momentum of key events such as WHD and bring the world together for the elimination of viral hepatitis.
