The day serves to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and to raise awareness of the importance of safe and accessible blood and blood products for people across the globe. For those of us working in the field of viral hepatitis, the day serves as an opportunity to highlight the importance of blood screening. This year’s theme is “Be there for someone else. Give blood.
