CASE STUDY PANCREATITIS Diagnosis - Acute pancreatitis Treatment – Fasting, Fluids given intravenously, Pain relief by opioid analgesics, IV prophylactic antibiotics may be given. Differential Diagnosis – Acute appendicitis, Cholesystitis, Kidney diseases, peptic ulcer etc. Status praesens - at the time of observation his condition is satisfactory. Temperature 36.7 C, pulse rate 70bpm, Respiratory rate : 18 cpm, BP : 98/80mmHg. Note! Serum amylase is not this high in recurrent pancreatitis. Serum amylase is rarely normal in patient with acute pancreatitis. This is due to destruction of the land.
