H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco 60 th birthday

SH Prince Albert II celebrated his
60th birthday on 14 March. In Feb-
ruary, the Mayor launched a special
initiative to collect donations from Mone-
gasques to commemorate the special occa-
sion. Monegasques were given the oppor-
tunity to demonstrate their devotion to
their sovereign and to celebrate the Prince’s
birthday at the same time. All Monegasques
could subscribe and make their (voluntary) donations toward
the charity gift for the Prince’s 60th birthday. That was the case
of the 50th anniversary of the Prince as well, when collected
donations were spent on the Defence of the Mediterranean
wild fauna and flora project led by the Prince. Also, to mark the
Prince’s 60th birthday, a multisensory show was presented at
Monaco Cathedral with the theme «Safeguarding Creation».
Broken down into five tableaux depicting, in turn, Earth, Water,
Fire, Air and the Heavens, «Elements» was conceived as a 30-
minute sensory performance immersing the audience in a series
of environments which have been recreated and projected onto
reliefs inside the Cathedral.

тот год уникален для Монако и его жителей
еще и тем, что 14 марта князь Монако Аль-
бер II отметил свое 60-летие. К такому со-
бытию все резиденты Монако начали готовиться за-
ранее. Уже в феврале начался сбор пожертвований
на коллективный подарок князю. Такая практика су-
ществует в Монако уже давно: так, на свой прошлый
юбилей в 2008 году князь Монако пригласил более
пяти тысяч монегасков. Тогда подарком правителю стали пожертвова-
ния приглашенных для финансирования кампании в защиту биораз-
нообразия Средиземноморского региона, и ярый защитник экологии
Альбер II дал старт проекту Monaco Explorations, благодаря которому на-
учное судно под названием Yersin занимается исследованием флоры и
фауны морей и океанов по всему свету на протяжении вот уже трех лет.
Также в честь 60-летия князя Альбера II в Соборе Монако было орга-
низовано необычное шоу «Элементы». Заявленная тема шоу звучала
так: «Оберегая Творение». Разделенное на пять частей, шоу «Элемен-
ты» было задумано как 30-минутное представление, погружающее
зрителей по очереди в различные стихии (Земля, Вода, Огонь, Воздух
и «Небеса»), воссозданные в проекциях на стенах Собора.
Orthodox services will be held in Monaco

or the first time in the history of the Principa
lity a Russian Orthodox Service was held on
31 March. Opening before the Holy Easter cel-
ebrations, it is a wonderful gift for the Orthodox beli
evers in Monaco who now have an opportunity to at-
tend services without leaving the Principality.
The Bishop of Korsun, Nestor, blessed the opening of
a Russian Orthodox parish in Monaco, named in hon-
our of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers of the Moscow
Patriarchate. The Archpriest Vadim Zakrevsky was ap-
pointed dean of the parish. A reformatory church in
La Condamine was chosen as parish premises, located
at 7, Rue Louis Notari, next to the police station.

стоялась Русская Православная служба.
По благословению епископа Корсунско-
го Нестора приход Русской Православной Церк-
ви в честь святых Царственных Страстотерпцев
Московского Патриарх ата открылся в Монако.
Настоятелем прихода назначен протоиерей Ва-
дим Закревский. Для организации прихода была
выбрана реформаторская церковь в La Condamine
рядом со зданием полиции по адресу: 7, Rue Louis
Notari, 98000 Monaco.
Это огромный подарок в преддверии Великой
Пасхи для всех православных Княжества, у ко-
торых теперь появилась возможность посещать
службы, не выезжая из Монако.
