Pierre Casiraghi and Boris Herrmann of Monaco Yacht Club Reveal their New Racing Wonder – Malizia III
It seems only yesterday that Boris Herrmann was pushing himself to the limit in the around the world yacht race , the Vendée Globe — an extreme quest of individual endurance and the ultimate test in ocean racing . When the race is next run in 2024 everyone hopes Covid is a distant memory — and the plan is that the fame and success of Malizia II will be superceded by Malizia III even though the damage to Malizia II was all repairable — nothing structural . Always thinking about the health of the environment , particularly the oceans , the boat will have a mini-laboratory installed , the dimensions of a 17 kg suitcase , to permanently and very carefully monitor the level of Carbon Dioxide in the water . Seven partners including the Yacht Club and the EFG bank based in Monaco are involved in this multi-million euro project designed by Sebastien Josse . All in all , the 18-metre boat is about two-thirds finished in construction . The launch will be on July 19 , 2022 in Lo Rient ( Morbihan ). And then excitement will build qualifying for the Route du Rhum .

Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters : and the winners of the 2022 edition are …
Stefanos Tsitsipas defended his title and won the Rolex Monte- Carlo Masters in Monaco . Defeating Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina 6-3 , 7-6 ( 3 ) to win his second ATP Masters 1000 title , the Greek looks set for another success this season . Tsitsipas has taken eight tournament trophies to date . Monaco ’ s victory was his first success of the 2022 season . By defeating his opponent in one hour and 34 minutes , Tsitsipas became the sixth player to win consecutive titles in Monte Carlo . Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury won the doubles title with an incredible 6-4 , 3-6 , 10-7 victory over Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters final .
Five Monegasque Athletes Awarded Medals by Olympic Committee
A special reception was held at One Monte-Carlo to honour five athletes who participated in the Tokyo and Beijing Olympics . Prince Albert II , former Olympian and head of the Monegasque Olympic Committee , presented each athlete with a medal . During his speech , he stated that each of Monaco ’ s Olympians are ambassadors for the Principality on the international scene . As well as being awarded with a medal , bobsledders Rinaldi and Vain received an Olympic diploma , presented to athletes who finish between the 4th and 8th position . The 2-man bobsleigh team made history after finishing in 6th place at the 2022 Beijing Olympics . It was the best Olympic performance for Monaco in history .
