Monaco ’ s Belle Époque architecture is nowadays most often celebrated by those gathered outside the Opéra , Salle Garnier or who stroll outside the palatial Hermitage Hotel and Hôtel de Paris . Small though the country is , with fierce competition for each square metre of space , there also remain a few historic Villas . Two of them have been protected by the Principality by incorporating them as the principal viewing galleries of the New National Museum of Monaco .
