Fight AIDS Cup was back on the field to score a goal of Solidarity

A football match supported by the noble cause of solidarity was held on the 24th January 2022 on the grounds of the Louis II Stadium . ‘ Barbagiuans ’, representing H . S . H . Prince Albert II of Monaco , faced the ‘ Cirque F . C .’ a special team made for supporting H . S . H . Princess Stéphanie of Monaco and help her Fight AIDS Monaco which is strongly engaged in social projects to prevent and combat the terrible virus , since its establishment in July 2004 . At a fixed time , under the gaze of the Princely Twins , the

Sovereign Prince kicked-off the match by dribbling the ball towards His sister , Princess Stéphanie of Monaco , who promptly responded giving space to the illustrious players who took over the stage . A nice portrait cheerfully underlined by the music of the folkloristic Band of Clowns from the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival to cheer spirits up for a future return of this iconic event , which has been missing from the annual calendar for two years due to the pandemic . Relevant stars of Football responded favourably and de- cided to take part in this challenge gathered on the initiative of Louis Ducruet who enjoyed helping his Mother ’ s association with this concrete action and openly praised by his mother in the opening speech . ‘ Cirque F . C .’ was the winner and was given , for the second time , the shiny trophy of this edition , a remarkable sculpture of the heart-shaped logo of the Association in a one piece metal geometrical surface designed by Stéphane Cipre under the aegis of the Fight AIDS Monaco Association .

Saint Devote Day celebrated by Prince Albert II and Princess Caroline

On 26 January , Prince Albert II and twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques , participated in the annual Saint Devote celebrations with Princess Caroline of Hanover , Louis Ducruet and Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy . The Princely family attended the yearly burning of a boat , one of the oldest traditions in the Principality . This tradition , which comes from the ‘ Legend of Saint Devota ’ medieval text , was established in the 1870s . Saint Devote is the patron saint of the Grimaldi family . The tradition , which has held a privileged place in the hearts of Monegasques for centuries , comes from the “ Legend of Saint Devote ” found in a medieval document . According to this legend , Devota ( Devote ), a young Christian native of Corsica was martyred by the prefect Barbarus under Emperors Diocletian and Maximian in the year 303 or 304 . Her body , stolen the following night by faithful people , was put on a boat , brought to Monaco and buried in a chapel of the valley called “ Gaumates ” near the port , on the 27th of January of the same year .
