26 to 28 October and rewarded the best sports images of the year during its prestigious Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 27 October . Under the High Patronage of H . S . competition that rewards the most outstanding sports footages of the year , during a Ceremony open and free to the public . The Sportel Awards is also an opportunity for sports fans to experience unique moments with renowned elite sporting champions . Many public events are organized in the Principality with free access by booking : conferences and exclusive meetings and signing sessions — a way to showcase each sport , its champions and the values they convey .
Due to the pandemic situation , the internationally renowned convention Sportel will now be held from 22 to 24 February 2021 , at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco .
MONACO RESIDENT DRIVER LEWIS HAMILTON BECOMES SEVEN-TIME FORMULA 1 CHAMPION
Despite the fact that after the Turkish Grand Prix the
drivers had to compete in three more races , the winner of this year ’ s competition has already become known . British driver Lewis Hamilton , a resident of Monaco , driving for the Mercedes team , won his victory in the Turkish Grand Prix on November , 15 and became a seven-time champion ahead of schedule , equaling the number of titles with the legendary Michael Schumacher .
Though Lewis Hamilton started from the sixth position , thanks to his talents he managed to come to the finish line first . He became the winner of the 2020 season three stages before the end of the championship . The British pilot raced the entire distance unmistakably well and also made the key decision not to enter the second pit stop , which largely determined the winner of this race . Lewis Hamilton himself admitted at a press confe rence organized annually for the Formula 1 champion that having decided not to enter the pit stop closer to the finish line , he knew that he could reach the finish line . And professionalism did not disappoint him .
Lewis Hamilton has been competing as a Mercedes team driver since 2013 . He became champion with this team in 2014 , 2015 , 2017 , 2018 , 2019 and 2020 .
